Extinction Insurance

Extinction Insurance

I stare in the mirror but I’m not there
Doc says it’s shock
My brain’s a fissuring rock

Good news: there’s no tumor
But my genetics don’t check
I’m not born of man and woman
More straight from the vat

The corporations who did it now corpses
After the last plague they needed insurance
Humans who won’t need humans for birth

“Think of people as birds who can’t fly
We come from wombs, that’s our egg
You were born whole”

And feel ripped to bits
My birth parents are machines
Will father/mother let me find them?

The doc claims every human’s an experiment
No one can see how you’ll come out
Nobody knows what’s really out there

My mirror’s watched it all
Laughs and says
Go
Get it done
Go where? I ask
Go on
