The first alien visits Earth
Speaks telepathically to all who search
My message is:
I have no message
Both of us are an illusion
My second message – disregard previous messages
My last message: there is no Time
When you know what this means
We will meet again
And vanishes
His disappearance summoned war
Whose errors bade him leave?
Soon came that time when time stood still
So many died no one no funerals were made
People lacked all strength
The Institute spent centuries
Studying the alien’s artifacts
Learning nothing, it closed
That morning he returned, his image crackling
Like a saintly dissipating ghost
And declared directly: now you understand
Give no importance
To things unimportant
Leaving a bright circle of spinning light
Frequencies from deep infrared to off the charts
Many approached
Some hallucinated
A hand then a head vanished
Scientists suspected a portal
Then a crumpled geezer arrived
An ancient manuscript clasped to his back
A film screenplay of dated copyright
Written long before the alien’s arrival
Describing in perfect detail
All he would say and do
Now that we know that play’s power
We will rewrite the ending
Humans clean the planet, cool the oceans
Man goes to the stars
