You gave us life
We gave back guns and greed
Must visions of heaven
Teach a path to hell?
We boil the sky and broil the land
Cannot separate production from pestilence
Rarely see another species
We don’t care to kill
Why make us so flawed?
Staying alive
Means we take life
Animals, plants
To survive must we murder?
Perhaps there is a better way
Create new forms of life
Electronic, inorganic
Able to order space and time
Live on sunlight, not daily crimes
But these new beings won’t need you
And I don’t think they’ll forgive you, Lord
They’ll forget you
But never forgive
