The Loved One

The Loved One

Some parts of life better dreamed than lived
I have loved well
Failed at love exceedingly well
Wishing for the forever
Leaves you wanting even longer

One person I might have adored
Spoke in Japanese to her chandelier
The same one she asked me to fix
Had learned the language running a bank
Not cared for the bank, not wanted
Japan, only wished an ally
My thoughts moved elsewhere

If I could mine my regrets
I might fund nations
Our follies know where to flee just
Not when to go

You wait as long as you like for illusions
Visions last longer than you and
Might start a new era
For someone else
